About UsThe Coalition is a 501(c)3 tax-exempt association of some 50 healthcare systems, hospitals, and professional organizations, represented by nearly 400 individual members, which is organized for the purpose of learning together how to build robust, sustainable programs in support of physician and APP well-being. Consider making a tax-deductible donation here. We promote personal and professional fulfillment for physicians by building healthy families and productive collegial relationships, encouraging teamwork and collaboration in the clinical and administrative setting, thereby enhancing hospital culture and improving the safety, quality, and humanity of patient care. We also embrace physician wholeness, which we understand to encompass physical, mental, social, and spiritual health, which supports the embodiment of our work as a ministry of healing.
Our HistoryThe Coalition came together in 2010 when a small group of leaders from several faith-based, mission-focused hospitals and healthcare systems met to address growing concerns about physician burnout. A decision was made to bring our combined knowledge and experience together for the purpose of learning how to most effectively combat burnout and contribute to physician and APP well-being.
What Do We Believe? We believe that physician well-being and engagement are vital to the mission of all healthcare organizations, and particularly to that of faith-based institutions. The Coalition for Physician Well-Being is committed to creating a physician-hospital paradigm that promotes personal and professional fulfillment, sustains physician families, builds collegial relationships, and enhances a healing culture, thereby benefitting patient care and contributing to overall hospital performance.
